clunking noise from underneath the car
so i have a 99 T/A automatic and recently i have been hearing this clunk when i stop and i can feel the tranny kind of "slam" into gear going from park to reverse and then into drive i am the second owner of the car and it has 135,000 miles on it and im not sure what the previous owner did to it or rather didn't do. so if anyone has an idea of what it might be and a cost estimate as i am pretty broke just got out of the air force and got married two weeks ago.

It's one of three things... I'll list them in order of most probable, to not...
1) It's your tranny mount... even if a shop has inspected it, they can miss a worn spot.
2) U-joints...
3) Motor mounts...
Our cars rip tranny mounts pretty easily...

It could also be a worn out rearend. To much backlash.

If I had to guess, it's the tranny mount...
I have never done the mount, as I have no time for that, but I have done the U-Joint on similar cars... you just unbolt the driveshaft from the rear-end, and slide she shaft out. Take it to your local machine shop for them to replace the joints... Something like $20, and about an hour.
If you feel the clunk near your feet, it's your mount, and I can't comment on how easy it is to replace. I assume you just need a tranny jack and less than an hour of time on your hands--but again, I've never done it before.

I had one of my aftermarket LCA bolts loosen, which caused a clunk when I accelerated and deaccelerated, I tightened the bolts and the clunk went away.

Get a poly mount if you can... they will last considerably longer...
