loud screeching noise
Ive noticed that my car has been making a loud screeching noise everytime i turn it on. I replaced my serpintine belt and ac belt with gatorback, so i first thought it was the belt. I started to trouble shoot the problem and figured out that it only screeches only when i have the a/c on. It will do it for about 3 to 5 min of turning on and eventually go away. Anyone know what this might be?

A/C compressor is probably dieing..
Possible compressor clutch issue also.
GM A/C setups are nothing short of junk on many makes and models.

Im having the same issue on my 96 Z LT1, my father and i diagnosed it as the a/c clutch. As said, gm isnt too awesome with a/c, so what im posting for is to ask if anyone knows whats involved in either fixing the A/C clutch, or doing a delete and being rid of the whole head ache altogether?
Any advice would be great

You are going have to replace the a/c itself to fix it. A new one is not cheap, but you may be able to find a use one on the boards. I just did a a/c delete, and it's not hard. Just drain the freon out, them unbolt the system, you will have the hardest time with the condenser in front of the radiator, but it's not too bad.

Not to mention that the A/C compressor is mounted tight to the framerail. I made a half ass attempt to remove mine when I swapped out the K-member in order to gain better access to the motor mount and through bolt. Gave up and went a different direction to do it.

Not to hi-jack this thread but if the condenser is the hard part I am ahead of the game, I removed that when replacing my radiator. I am going to have a shop bleed my ac so I can remove it and do this the legal way. My clutch on my ac is on it's way out so that is my reason for removing it.
