Dark Blue- 2000 Pontiac Firebird v6
Hm.. ok. So if the alarm is going off, how do I turn it off? The security light is off... How can I stop these blinking lights?

Got it fixed!! :-))))
Thanks -- Wooohooo...!!
From here:
http://en.allexperts.com/q/Car-Alarm...-car.htm?zIr=5
I did this:
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the
valet/overide button, found under the
dash area, (push button, spring loaded)
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid,
and the siren chirps once.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle
(on/off) type. in this case, key on,
flip switch in opposite direction,
then turn the key off.)

more than likely they tripped your alarm somehow, you need to reset your alarm. is it aftermarket or factory. if its after market then there should be some kind of a reset button on it. i bet the alarm system cut out the ign. switch to the starter, so it wont start, but it still registers as on in the switch which is why it runs.

The procedure makes the reset (no direct reset button I guess), but there is a on/off switch under the dash on the driver side.
I got this car third-hand, and I'm guessing its an aftermarket alarm. Nobody had told me anything about this though... I guess I found about it the hard way.
