Rear roof pannel issues
Im not sure if this is a commin issue with Camaro's but the black pannel (right behind the t-top that seperates the back glass) is starting to get these bubbles all around the areas where its sealed to the body of the car. I think its fiberglass (not sure) but its factory and it has never been repainted. It looks like rust bubbles and its making the clear coat bubble up in some spots too, but seeing how its plastic it cant be. It seems like its having some kind of chemical reaction to something. Ive never seen this before and if anyone on here has or can give me some info on it i would appreaciate it.

Yepp its a recall, because of the adhesive they used when attaching the panel. Here is the bulletin # Bubbles in the Paint Around the Perimeter of the Roof (Replace Roof) #03-08-98-001A - (Apr 2, 2003)
The panel will have to be replace and new adhesive added.
J2001 SS, Its not the car its the Driver that matters....

Atleast we all know that 98s are affected w/ this issue as well. Damn the GM cost cutting...

Black paint does seem to accentuate the problem. On a hot sunny day, we have fluid that leaks out of the bubbles. Guess I need to get around to installing our new panel.

So it looks like im on my own for this then huh! Sucks
From all the other posts I see it looks like an expensive fix. Thats money I could have put to use in other parts other than a roof pannel!!!

Yeah this topic has been beat to death. Your on your own, I couldnt even get the dealer to do it in 2007. It was never a recall, just a service bulliten. Maybe if you knew someone, but....... Hey, at least you know the car has never had top damage!
