no dash lights or gauges
Hey i have a 2000 trans am. i just put a new amp and radio in. now all of the sudden the rpm mph and mileage gauges stopped working along with the back lights, and the electronic trunk. i put the stock radio back in and that does not work, nor do the gauges. i put the aftermarket radio in and it works fine but the gauges and trunk dont. any ideas??? oh ya the fuses are all the. i checked them all with a test light, and pulled all out to visualy check them

sounds like we blew a fuse or crossed a wire somewhere...
I would put back to stock, and see if they work again, then double check my re-install...

yea i put the stock radio back in right after that and nothing. but the orange wire at the radio harness has no power, i checked the same orange wire at the fuse block and its live. but i dont see how that would affect the rpm speedo and mileage only.

Did you use a wire adapter harness or cut and splice the wires?

wiring harness, i found out it could be the body control modual now, it just needs to be reprogrammed the guy was saying. he said the car thinks something has been stolen and shut the shit down on me since the anti theft was not deactivated. if the body control modual hasnt been blown it can be reprogrammed, if its blown i will be $400 to $700 to fix it.

changing the stereo should have no effect on the bcm. The radio has a theftlock built into it. I checked some schematics and the pwr accy fuse also controls the guages. Does your cigarette lighter work? Also check to make sure the brown and grey wire on the stereo harness aren't connected to anything. Are all the other lights on your car working like the brake, blinkers and headlights? Do your window and locks work?

I think it makes sense. because if the RPM, spedo, temp, and fuel arent getting power. In my case I dont get power to the radio, to the cluster (except oil, and volts) and to the odometer. also I cant activate my alarm. when I hit the lock on the fob it only beeps once as it was armed already. Im luck I got the car to start.
