The flushing is done with water from your garden hose, you only need enough coolant to fill it back up when you're done (4 gallons at the absolute most)

use a good extended fluid like the red/orange Dexcool, or the yellow stuff, stay away from the green stuff. Also throw in a bottle of Wetter water or purple ice, they will help lower a few degrees

Just under 3 gallons is the total capacity of the system-but you won't get it all to drain.Don't worry about it that's normal.Buy 2 gallons of antifreeze and put your Purple Ice in first.Premix your antifreeze w/distilled water and save what's left for topping off later.Look at it after it cools back off and make sure your level is still OK-look again the next day you run it just to be safe.

is purple ice safe to use with dex? Cause if it has silicates it pretty much defeats the purpose of dex.

I think Purple Ice works a little better....

10-01-2005, 11:04 AM #10haha...dishwashing fluid, how much did you put in? What exactly does purple ice do anyway...does it raise the boiling point of the coolant?

No it (like dishwashing soap.....Dawn is good) makes the hot points that boil off water less "sticky" so know the water can run over these hot points versus around them...thus cooling.....I was the biggest skeptic...but the guys just swear by the stuff...and hell they have been using it for awhile...so I did my own little test...and kiss my butt...it really did drop the temps....

Yep, because it reduces the surface tension of the water.

Do Purple Ice and Watter Wetter do the same thing or is one better than the other?
