Drivers window coming loose or off track?
Coming back from the Post Office my drivers window rolled up strange. Seems like it is fixing to come off track or something is very loose.
It still rolls up but at the last 3 inches I have to push it out and guide it.
I know it is not a bad motor. I know what that problem looks like.
I've been searching and I'm not sure if this is the same issue I have but it is the only thread I've found that talks remotely in the area.

Any ideas before I start tearing into the door would help.

number 14 its called a sash channel... and you will not find it at the dealership... gm discontinued it for some reason but they make it for the passenger side! there is a guide that rides in a track that is kinda common for breaking making it so your window wont roll up properly... what i did was welded it back together and replaced the wheel with some from an 80's camaro i think! after class ill look into it alittle more again if you dont get another answer!Last edited by My00Z28; 04-28-2011 at 08:07 PM.

i cant seem to find a better picture than that but number 14 will ride in the channel on number 16 which guides your window into place what happened is the piece broke so we welded it back together when we did that it melted the plastic wheel that rides in that so i found out that the 80's camaros had those wheels in them this is what i got to replace the wheels!

So your saying it's going to be painful right!
Ok......any guesses if the 93-97 have the same sash channel? I got access to a couple of them if they do. 98-02's are almost impossible to find around here.

not trying to hijack this thread. I have a kinda similar problem. except what mine does is that once its all the way up you hear a clunk sound (it wants to keep on going if you hold the button) anyone had a problem like that? if so what #'s from the diagram should i be looking at.

I had this issue and it was the roller attached to #14. the metal rod that holds it snapped out. I tried to fix it and it didnt last long. I never tried welding it. I was able to find an used one in a junk yard. If you do this yourself you need to drill out the rivets that hold the window to it. Remove the window and replace the part. I was able to find the rivets and the tool to reattach the window. If you dont have the tool you can always take it to a window repair place and they can install it back.
Here is some pics of the part:
This is the roller part that snaps out with the rod:

Aaaaaaaaand this thread is resurrected!
So, any ideas on where to get the sash? According to the dealer, that is my problem, but the part is not available through any of their channels. I can't seem to find it on any online shops, either.
