Strange sound coming from rear end
My 2001 Camaro Z28 (automatic tranny) has been relatively trouble free since I bought it new. It now has about 64,000 miles on it. I've noticed, recently, that after driving it for more than an hour, when I take my foot off the gas I hear a sound coming from the rear of the car that sounds like a washing machine that's off balance. Last winter I hit a bad pothole at night (when I couldn't see it) and later had to replace the rear wheel bearings. I'm wondering if the drive shaft might be off balance. Could the heat after driving for over an hour affect that?

well could be a few things, bad axel bearings once again possibly from a bent axel shaft or axle tube, or bad gears, or pinion bearing is going out. For my best guess. Any new vibrations?

Like said above, if you had to change your wheel bearings it makes me wonder what else is bent back there. If the pothole was bad enough to damage the bearings it would have been enough to damage a shaft or even bend a shim or two. I would start by pulling the rear cover and inspecting everything, then jack up the rear and turn the wheels by hand and listen for nifty sounds. I would also pick up a good synthetic fluid and additive for the refill.
J2001 SS, Its not the car its the Driver that matters....
