red- 1999 trans am
Throttle body question
on a 1999 trans am, if i got a 85mm throttle body would i need to get a cam or not. what is a good intake manifold that would go with a 85mm throttle body as well? also is it possible to have to big of throttle body for the stock ls1 cam?

no it isn't... if you want to get an 85mm tb you might as well get a 90mm or 92mm and if you do that you have to match it up to an intake such as the FAST which is $$$ and if you're going to go through that much trouble you might aswell do heads and cam otherwise you're spending $$$ money on a intake/tb and not seeing very many gains for it.
What I would recommend for you is just getting your stock TB ported/polished thats MORE then sufficient for a stock cubed ls1 unless it has h/c
since you have a 99 invest in the LS6 intake match that with your p&p stock tb and you'll be set for just about anything.

Unless your pushing upwards of 500hp at the wheels keep your stock throtle body. You can have your stocker ported but i would wait until you decide to get it tunned.

so if i get an ls6 intake manifold my stock p&p throttle body will fit right on it right??? also the ls6 intake does not have egr or am i mistaken?? thanks for the help

Yeah it will fit...and no it doesn't have EGR...if you need to keep your EGR functional you can get a conversion from Lingenfelter...

Also I agree....if your under 500RWHP your stocker is good to go.
