If you drop the trans, then pull the flywheel, the seal is in a cover that resembles the front timing cover. Should be fairly easy.

Artic White- 2001 Chevy Camaro SS
340 seems a little expensive to change a seal that cost less than $10. I have a buddy who got his changed for a little over $100.

It just depends on how much a shop charges. I believe its a 3.5 to 4 hour job. Most dealerships charge around 80 to 110 an hour. So it's pretty reasonable if you can't really do it yourself and you prefer to have a dealership do it.

I changed my own,,,it was leaking as well.
It's not a hard job just labor intensive.
If a shop is only charging $340 I'd say thats cheap.
You have to pull the trans which entails dropping the Y-pipe out of the way etc..
If you have an auto the starter has to come off to access the torque converter bolts.
A 6 speed requires that all of the clutch goodies come off as well.
There is no real easy way around it unfortunately.

i dont have the means to do all of that and it will be done tomorrow when i get off of work so i can pick it up pay and get home. i know it required dropping the tranny and getting to it which i have never done. but i got the shop to bring it back to and bitch at if happens again even though i dont expect it to anytime soon. i figured it was reasonable seeing as how vegas is a high dollar area with labor in general. and i didnt know if i should have expected it to be done within in a day not because of the job but the amount of business they had.
