Can Oil Pressure be too high?
My Oil Pressure gauge always shows at least 60 psi (idle)-- and as soon as I give it gas it jumps all the way up. I don't even have to floor it, just accelerate normal, and it stays very high 70+ PSI.
I think the lowest I have ever seen it, was about 40 PSI (that is after I have been driving for a while, and I am stopped with the clutch in.
My question-- Is this, or could this lead to, a problem??
If this is a potential problem, what can I do to fix it. (before it becomes an issue)
Car seems to drive completely normal by the way.

I wouldn't worry about it. Mine also reads rather high. (40psi at idle minimum) it won't hurt it. I do have an ls6 oil pump installed though. There is always the possibility the oil pressure sender is going bad, which in itself isn't terrible, just replace it. It's cheap, and a quick fix, just remove the intake manifold to access it.

Mine is the same way. I look at it as a good thing. Id rather have somewhat high oil pressure than none at all!

My pressure runs about the same in my '02 SS. I have found that these oil pressure gages aren't very accurate however. I've had three gage pods put in my '03 Silverado. The last one, the pressure dropped 10 psi across the board just from a gage change.

I would only worry about high oil pressure if it was insanely high and you did not have a good reason for it. The stock pump should not max out your gauge all the time. The only reason I would worry is because something could be causing a blockage, but it is still in the gauge consider it a good thing.
