    MAF decision

I got some money and i'm thinkin a texas speed rumbler exhaust, maybe a new cai because mine is crap, and MAF. i have the stock MAF descreened and i'm sure it's causing some of my idle and air/fuel issues but i'm about to get a tune for the car as well. should i do the granatelli or would one of the ported ends work ok w/o the screen? i could spend $100 for ported ends or $300 for the GMS MAF, also what are the sizes of the stock MAF and the granatelli in mm? i know the ported one is around 75mm or so. so far my mods are LT4 hot cam, heads milled to lt4 specs, msd ignition, descreened maf, hooker longtubes, full 3" flowmaster, soon to be 3.42's, A4, no cats. any other ideas or suggestions?

rescreen your stock MAF, no need to mess with an aftermarket one. Plus it is easier to tune with a stocker

that's a little bit of a problem, i bought the car like this and without the screen. so i have no screen to put in it.

GMS MAFs suck, dont buy one. It will do little if anything for you. And despite what many say about removing the screen in the MAF, it can be done without having any driveability or tuning issues arise. I have had aftermarket ends on my stock MAF unit before and after the PCM was tuned, and no issues so far. As long as the air has a somewhat straight shot going into the MAF you'll be ok.

Don't waste your money on the aftermarket ends... it won't make a lick of difference. Save your money for a good chassis dyno tune if you're having air/ fuel issues such as lean or rich.
