Red- 1999 Chevy Camaro Z28
every speed shop i spoke to said that Patriot heads are junk. They take stock castings and mill the hell out of them.

Red Tint Jewelcoat- 2008 Trailblazer SS
Actually....that isn't how they do it.
They take stock castings and weld them in.
Then they run their CNC program on them.
Patriot used to be a crap head.
I run Patriot heads. Check sig for power numbers. Ignore the track times unless you know what DA does to them.

What about Racing Head Services (RHS) 210 cc
Look at the flow numbers in the attachment. Remember this is only a head with 210 intake ports so it will be extremely drivable on the street. They also have bigger 225 heads also.

Pewter- '99 Z28 M6
What's up fellas. I ended up purchasing the Texas Speed PRC heads. I ordered the $100 extra valve port work, and I must say the CNC machining is top notch. Every port looks like the other, and they look like they can make SERIOUS power. They CNC ported the intake throats, the intake and exhaust runners. I already had the 918 springs on the LS1 heads, with titanium retainers, so I am gonna swap those over and put the LS6 springs and retainers on the stock LS1 heads and sell those.
Thanks for helping me out guys. Now its time for the INSTALL!!

"Black99Z28" how do you blow rear end? if I get subframe connectors and tighten up that way, how would I blow my rear end on launches above 2500 rpm?
I intend have 525 at the engine. I have '99 TA A4.

Hi all, I am interested in doing a TT setup on an LS1 and I would like to know what heads/cam combo(and other internal engine mods) would result in the best combination. I like the GMR and APS TT kits just FYI and I would like to have it last awhile and be reliable. In general, what is a good HP number to shoot for that will keep me smoking rice all day long and still be daily driveable? Thanks all for your help.

I've got all the bolt-ons on my 98 Z28 6M. Car is my daily driver. I'm thinking about doing a head/cam/LS6 manifold swap OR just head/LS6 manifold swap. What HP numbers COULD I expect to get changing just the heads/manifold VS changing the heads/cam/manifold? Again, daily driver.

06-22-2006, 05:48 PM #68I would go for the patriot stage 3 flows 320+(1300$), unless you have loads of cash or can port and install new valves in the ls6 your self.

06-22-2006, 06:00 PM #69Depends on how much you are doing to your motor, but full rotating (dont overbore), girdeld block, the right heads, injectors, BIG intercooler(its like the dick in porn), and the all importent intercooler, then up to 800 hp on a smooth daily runner, where you only notice it when you put the throttle more than an 1/4" down.

Thanks for the help all...can this be done though? Bolting the Patriot stage 3 headers on an lt1 block, bolting LS6 intake and T/B to new heads, and maybe getting new ECM, the end result being close to the output of an actual LS1? I want to turbo after these mods but if that does not work out the way I have intended it, I would like to know the best Heads/manifold/cam to use on a turbo LT1.

WOW! This thread is seriously something else to say the least! Let's see how many questions I can answer and how many people I can bring to the light

silverz28camaro and djvaly:
No offense, but its obvious you all havent done much research. As mentioned, AFR does provide SLP with heads. However, SLPs customer service and warranty on their products is one of the worst! Ive see too many SLP threads on how their c.s. sucked and I have exerienced it also. They're over priced and the claimed gains are far from what they claim! Do yourselves a favor and look at other combinations. Whoever said they havent seen custom cams prove themselves hasnt searched much. Not everyone boasts their cam specs or numbers, but do show off their times. Ask a few of the 10-11 sec cars if they're running an off the self cam. Ill admit that there are a lot that run the msx's or the trexs, g5x3s and 4s, but believe it or not, thats the everyone.
Ok, LT1 blocks and parts are NOT interchangeable with eachother. Patriot makes heads, not headers. A twin setup is something that needs plenty of research. You have to build the motor for the added boost and if you dont, then its a waste to have twins on a stock motor because you cant take full advantage of the setup. You dont need a new PCM for an LS1 for a turbo. Just upgrade to a 3bar setup. If you're concerned with passing up ricers, it doesnt take much

They may have been at one time, but ARE went down hill when they screwed all of their customers. Building motors with used parts....it was a big mess. AMS and ARE are not companies you want to deal with...AT ALL!

yes $899 for stock valve job for the set, 999 for the cnc valve job. I talked to jason at texas speed when i was down there this weekend and he said that they flow 307cfm at .600" lift, with the cnc valve job they flow 312cfm at .600" lift. You cant and will not find a better set of flowing heads for the money, and I know flow numbers aren't everything but I seen what these heads did to my buddys car first hand with dyno sheets in hand. They made 51rwhp over stock heads, but each car is different TSP said they have seen anywhere between 40-60 rwhp.

What $ for head cam job. I had a price given for 5K for ET heads and cam and all the other stuff. 6K for AFR from a nother guy (with cam timing chain and all other stuff,) It seems to me I should order a crate moter if I am going to fork out this much cash. 6K on a ls1 with 35,000? or ?$ on a new crate.
