Frozen Heater Core
Is it worth trying to "unfreeze" the core or should I just go out and get a new one?

Water in it? If so, it may have expanded and could have cracks... otherwise not sure what ya mean.

What ever the case is, " PUT A NEW ONE IN"!!!!!!
The last thing you want is antifreeze running all inside your car and that is what it is gonna do!!
I was on a 3 Hour trip, and half way through, it went. It filled up my right side floor! Antifreeze smells bad and it is slimy shit!

Heater cores are supposed to have water in it gd1996 hehe.. And I wouldnt replace it if its not leaking. But if the heater core is frozen then I would imagine you have a frozen radiator too. But you can start your car and safely run it up to 210 degrees or so and begin a warm up, as long as your water pump isnt frozen. It all uses the same water.

Geez, I forgot that I posted this. Sorry it took so long to get back here...
I meant force water through it in an attempt to clean out whatever garbage is clogging it up. They sell hose attachments that allow one to do this.
The radiator appears to be just fine. The car runs around 185 on the highway.
Also, the hoses that connect up to the core link up with some kind of metal tube on the other end. Do I need to replace the tube too if I change the hose?
