car wont start
Car won't start, key fits snug in the ignition, no wriggle room at all,I don't have a key pad either, I have been using my key to unlock my doors, then putting the key with the chip in the ignition to start it before the alarm goes. Off....now the car won't start or even turn off the alarm when I do this......

Ok gonna try and do that....just hope it works......just need to find a ride to the closest autozone and get some resistors.

I just need to get my hands on a ohm reader.

Radioshack has some for like $15-20 or cheaper ones I think, they also have A BUNCH of resistors

Wait, your key doesn't even go into the start/run position?

Got my hands on an OHM reader, the first number that pops up is 3.0, and when I take it off it says 14.10....which number should I go by???

Shit no radioshack what about AutoZone.....and my key does turn all the way to the start and run position.

That's a chart on all the keys, see which one is closest and that'll be the key number that you have. It helps gives you the min and max ohm range. If your key isn't even going into the run/start position then I doubt that this is the issue. When my car went through this, the security light would stay on for like 15min and it would just not start but the key would be able to turn into the running position. If your key is not turning at all then it might be the ignition cilinder crapping out, my truck just went through this and the only way to start it was to wiggle the key as you would turn it.

Ok AutoZone and O'Reillys doesn't have any resistors....any other recommendations.

Maybe a Target or Walmart in the electronics section

I'm pretty sure its either this or the expensive dealer fix

The key turns all the way, and the security light blinks like it normally does, then goes off. but the alarm comes on.....the alarm goes off, then when i turn the key again the alarm goes off again.....i was thinking about buying another key fob , but i can't do that till i get paid. but it looks like ill be doing the bypass....just need to figure out what number key i have. i posted wht the ohm reader is giving me, i just don't know what im looking at to be honest ha ha. a little help on that would be grateful please.

Are you sure you have it on OHMS, it should give you a 4 digit number without a decimal. I'm pretty sure that's how it works, so on that graph there is no 3.0 or 14.10 unless 14.10 would mean 1410 then you would be closest to key #6

Ok from what I have been looking at on radioshacks website, the resistor in the key is a 3.00 ohm resistor....no I don't know what the maximum, minimum, or design resistance is....having trouble trying to figure all that mess......math was never my strongest subject. If anyone can help me out here I would be greatful.

If you get a 3 ohms resistor and plug it in like the VATS thread shows then that should take care of the job
