bubbling on my '01 trans am
My '01 trans am is starting to get bubble spots across the top behind t-tops. I hear this is common. My question is how hard is it to fix???

you can't fix it,,, the problem is in the glue that GM started using on 2000 to 2002. My friend has a 1999 and his Z28 is fine so if you can find a 1999 and under and swap it thats your best bet,,,and its a pain in the but to take off to.
I would just buy another one from 6LE he has them.
there was a recall but that ended in 2005

^^ Agree. Very common problem and the only way to fix it is to replace the panel. I have a new one in my garage awaiting installation. GM discontinued the part late last year.

Usually happens on black from what I have seen the most. I haven't got my hands on one yet to try to fix it. Hoping my friends does it since I have a few ideas I would like to.try. but mostly everyone I know has replaced them. My 98 doesn't have the problem most likely from the different glue as well.as being white and always garaged.

Something different about the T/A's than the Camaro's or is this a problem on all of our cars?

Mine is sunset orange metallic, just got it last august and notice a few spots then, now that spring is here I am noticing more. Not high on my priority list either but was just wondering about how hard to fix it. No one will notice it while it is screaming down the road.

Navy Blue Metallic- 2002 Trans Am WS6 NBM
My 02 WS6 is bubbling on both sides. I thought the previous owner tried to get the area fixed and they did a poor job, guess not. I took it to a body shop yesterday and the guy said that it's the fiberglass and if you fix it, it will just come back.

Navy Blue Metallic- 2002 Trans Am WS6 NBM
The manager of Cauley's body shop said it was fiberglass. They do custom corvettes and camaros. They did the Firebreather camaro for the movie Jinn. It looks like a bad ass Trans Am.

The panel appears to be made out of sheet mold compound (SMC) -- so essentially it is fiberglass.

at the end of builds on the 1999 f-bodys before they started on the 2000 cars they switched to this other glue. My friend has a 99 with 215k and its black with not one bubble. U didn't get so lucky
your fine and will not have any bubbling. most 99 are good just got to check the build date and all 98's and under are good.
a good thread on tech about this with all the info
