what else should i look at getting done?? my mechanic is telling me it would be a good time to get a new clutch... i have high mileage, 150k, on the original clutch. other than a little bit of lazy pedal when it cold outside, i haven't noticed any clutch problems..

if so, is there a specific clutch package i should look for? i don't need high perf, just something adequate for daily driving and good quality? is the OEM good enough?

An ls-7 clutch kit is a nice cheap upgrade. If the original lasted you this long I don't see the need to go spending the money on aftermarket clutches.

Unless there is something different about the '99 -- the factory service manual recommends against machining the flywheel. It has a tapered surface and should be replaced.

replace the master and slave cyl... new cluthch and fly wheel... might as well get a new throwout bearing as well...

thanks for the replys! is there anything transmission-wise (it's a manual) i should have looked at? at the least i'd ask them to change the fluid..

I'd change the oil in the tranny if it hasn't been done in a while. It's easier to do while it's laying on the tranny jack Simple drain and refill, doesn't cost much.

I agree with the others, after pulling all that down for a rear main, with that many miles, I'd do it all, clutch/pressure plate/flywheel/throwout bearing/slave cylinder/ that way you can be assured it's all buttoned back up for a long time. While you're at it, I'd prefer to do a master cylinder too.

It's going to set you back a good chunk of money to do it all,,,,but at this point I call it preventative maintainance, do it before it leaves you stranded somewhere.
