$50 gas limit
Anyone else have this around them? F'in pump cuts you off at $50, this seriously pisses me off. They want to charge $4+ a gallon but tell me I can only get $50 worth wtf. You can swipe your card again but what a pain in the ass. It cost me $56 to fill up today once at $50 then had to swipe my card again for a whole $6. Can you imagine filling a truck you'd proabably have to swipe your card 3 or 4 times to fill it all the way up.
I've also noticed bp and shell have started increasing the price between grades of fuel. It has always been 10 cents between each grade now there going 13-15 cents. I know in some areas of the country it has been like this but around here its always be 10 cents.

The way i see it, gas prices keep going up and people wont be driving much anymore. GOOD more room on the road for me.

The reason the gas stations do it, is for their own profit.
Each credit/debit transaction device is owned by a seperate company that charges the gas station a percentage for the dollar amount in the transaction for using their device.
Most of these companies increase the percentage of what they charge after a specific dollar amount. Gas stations that stop the pump at $50 or $75 are trying to keep that percentage down so they can make more profit and reduce their overhead. In other words passing that pain in the ass effect down to us. some gas stations have removed the credit/debit transaction device from the pump causing drivers to pay cash only. Who the hell carries and uses cash any more.
lets say
$0-$20 = 1.3%
$20-$40 = 5%
$50 or $75 or higher = 13%
that becomes a huge expense to the gas station, since gas is over $4 a gallon and well over a 100 transaction take place a day!

It's $60 here...i'm thinking they also limited it because some people are charging more then they have in their account. The pumps don't know the amount your card is good for...only that it's still active and has enough to get some gas. Having to reauthorize the card can minimize losses for the station...

well, that theory works except for the fact the gas stations dont get stuck with the bill, the credit company/bank does... So I'm thinking that the restriction may come from the bank that the company uses.. I dunno though.
Its either 50 75 or 100 depending on what store here... I know our citgos are 50, and the 7-11s are 100...

We have a mix here, so happy hunting. Some stations have a $50 limit some a $75. Just depends on where you stop.

I only pay with cash, so no problem with me, but when I drive my brothers car, I take his card to fill it up(I ain't paying for his fucking gas) and I noticed I can always get like 4 dollars in after the thing shuts off. But when I pay with cash, I'd never manage that.
