    security light

    I have a 2001 trans am ws6, i got in it to turn it on this morning and it wouldnt start but the sucurity light stayed on, i waited a while and tightened up all the fuses then it started right up however the security light still wont go off. do any of yall no if there is a code to fix this?

    My car would do that. Seems like your VATS is about to go bad. There is a sticky at the top to show you how to bypass it if it does go bad. I would try to clean the pellet on the key and see if that is it.

    Mine has gone bad twice. . . First time I had to pay, second time the stealership took care of it.

    Ouch...thats like a $300 fix at the stealership aint it. .06 cents plus 30 minutes if you do the bypass.

    Eh, I had no idea what a "VATS" was (until today) so I didn't know to search for that key term. Yes, I spent quite a bit about 3 months back. Actually the second time it happened was just last week. I was in front of the liquor store and it just wouldnt start. I was pissed.
