I am looking to get into SCCA this summer with my 98 Z28. I want to start with some basic upgrades that will still keep me in the stock class. what is a good place to start?

    Things i am considering:
    New Bushings
    Pro 5.0 shifter
    Skip shift adapter
    New tires

Any suggestions on these or other mods? Thanks

i don't see any of those that would keep you out of stock class. except maybe the kind of tires you will be putting on. best thing to do, would be to get a rule book.
Cold Air Intake, Muffler Delete, Vinci High Performance Dual Valve Springs, Hardened Pushrods, Yella Terra 1.85 Rockers, Some Hydropdipped Stuff, Strut Tower Brace, Some SS Badges, boost/vacuum gauge, fuel pressure gauge, some checkered stripes, drilled/slotted rotors, ZL1addons Stealth wickerbill, Ruxifey LED side markers

i would get tires, shocks and front sway bar... those are permitted in stock class, and if done right , you can have a great winning combo without spending too much $.

I've got a Pro 5.0 shifter. It's sick and will without a doubt help you get much quicker shifts. Not sure how much help it will be in the auto cross, but it's a sweet shifter. I did cut about 1/2 inch off the threads and it's absolutely perfect for short throw shifts.
Pro 5.0 shifter, CAGS, Borla Exhaust, Direct-Flo Lid, K&N Air Filter, Fast Toys Ram Air Kit, BMR STB, BMR Adjustable PHB, BMR Boxed & Welded SFCs, Metco Boxed LCAs w/ Relocation brackets, Metco Driveshaft safety loop, Koni SA Shocks, Eibach Pro-Kit.

Thanks for the info, I think the shifter will be my first new part. that is a great idea to make it shorter!

Eugenio_SS : the sway bar will probibly be my second buy. your pics are sweet!

as for tires...i have hear good things about the KUMHO ECSTA Supra 712...do you have any comments on those?
Also, what kid of shocks do you suggest and how much do they usually run?

    thanks for your help everyone!

    Thx for the compliments.
I hope you are not thinking on using those tires for AutoX.
I'd recommend the Nitto 555RII which is a great compromise for street/track/autox
same compound as the nitto drag radials, but better sidewall.

I looked at the nitto tires, they look like great tires. but the reason I was considering the kumho's was because they are about a third the price of the nitto's. I just graduated from college, so im trying to do things on a budget :-) ... lol or as little as I can! I do understand that they arnt the best I could get, but are the good for the price? are there some others i could look at for a similar price?

if you really want to run SCCA, I would suggest that you download the rules. There is very little that can be done to your car to keep it in the class you want.
