Torque arm, Spohn BMR or UMI
I'm looking for a good torque arm, i've looked through out the suspension threads and couldn't get the answer to my question.
The two that im looking at are BMR's Track Pack and UMI's Torque arm with Driveshaft loop mounted to the tunnel instead of the transmission.
Both of the Torque Arm's bolt to the tunnel but the Track pack is longer and gets welded to the Subframe connectors.
Is that going to make the much of a difference. The disadvantage to the Track pack would be that you cant remove that middle support since its welded to the Subframe connectors.
If anyone has any guidance or suggestions on this issue that would be great.
thanks
matt

I got the Track pak and love it 2 other of my friends also have it, the corss brace is not really that big of a deal, you can take a look at my car and see how its set up if you would like to since your not that far away from me. lol

Got the UMI catalog here. Just installed some SFCs and STB. Check the Web site out. They really impressed me. Very helpful and take pride in what they do. Are you wanting to relocate the torque arm? Tunnel brace? Adjustable?

I generally try to avoid TA's that bolt to the tunnel brace mount, because that's not a part of the car that's intended for the torque loads you suddenly put into them. *IF* you go that way, 3-pt connectors are a must to disperse the load.
It's a little more costly, but I think the best solution is a full length TA and a TA Relocation bracket (which is a new tranny crossmember with a TA mount on it). This way it gets the TA off the tailshaft, which is seems you want. The loads go into a much, much stronger part of the floor--and one meant to take some load since that's where the tranny bolts up. And you get a lot less vibration too since you've mounted to a beefier part of the car, and not right under your seat.

The Non-adjustable arm is much, much stiffer than the stock stamped steel arm. It works very well if you aren't going to/don't want to be messing with pinion angles. It is a valid option and is a little lighter too since it doesn't have the adjustment stuff on it.

You can be sure Sam Strano knows his stuff and won't steer you wrong.
Being a west coast road racer, I like this unit best.

I used the Spon unit on my race car it was plenty good enough for me at the price but I think the UE unit is the best at any price, if you need the very best.Last edited by dregsz; 06-08-2008 at 01:45 AM.
