TA Turn Signal/Driving Light Fix?
I did a quick search and couldnt find anything . . .I'm havin the normal corrosion problem in my driving lights/turn signals. Im on my second round of replacing both bulbs and now the drivers side socket/harness has corroded bad enough that it needs replaced. Has anyone modded their turn signal socket/harness to prevent it from corroding the contacts. On my 98 bird i drilled 1/8' holes in the housing to prevent moisture accumulation and burnout. But on the ta, with the socket comin in from the bottom its not this simple. So I was thinkin of simply drilling a small hole through the middle of the socket itself to release the moisture that acculates in there. Whats your guys take on this?

Yeah Gm quoted me 75 each 4 those. After you switch em out get some LED ambers and a new flasher unit for about 15 bucks. Your front signals won't ever get super hot again.

nope . . . actual went to go pick it up from oreilys and it was the wrong one. it was for a round, turn it style. the guy looked forever on the computer tryin to find it, and come to find out it was really gonna cost $40 from there. but they had one out in the electrical section that said for 3157 bulbs for 4 bucks. i told him i was gonna try it. i got it installed and seems to be fine. what the hell is the difference in the ones they have to order?

Well the stock bulbs do cause some of the issues. Those 3157's get super hot and i bet if you ever remove the bulb housing you might find some cracks in the top. Can be caused from the plastic heating and then if it ever meets water (rain, car wash etc) it can potentially cause damage. I was able to keep my stock housings after I found they were cracked by reinforcing the top with JBweld and where the clear plastic on front meets the housing with silicone to seal it all back up. No leaks since then. Hope that made sense.

always dirty- 2013 Ram 2014 Caddy ATS
Have you tried sealing the housing, bulb, and lens with some silicone to keep out the moisture? Also put some dielectric grease on the bulb base.

well after messin with it last nite, it does seem like my housings have a few stress/heat cracks in em . . . so im gonna try to get at least my passenger side out this w/e (its seems like the worst) and see what i can do. i use the dielectric grease evertime and never touch the bulb itself with my bare hands. i just think if the damn thing had a small drain hole to allow for moisture to escape, possible even heat, it would prevent so many burnouts. and its not like the bulb is really burning out, the prongs are just corroded so bad, they just fall off when you try to clean em.

I found mine online at a ledlight site. If you go there they have a ton of variety in replacement 3157 bulbs. I got the 18 LED Light (49632)

Is it true that you have to replace the flasher to use a LED light?

Well I just fixed my turn signal.....replaced the socket and everything works. I bought a new socket from AutoZone. Without the part number know one at the store will be able to figure out what you need. The part number is 85881.
