    what size power wire

i am planning my new system and already picked up a few pieces. I only want to run the power wire once, so i was thinking that if i put a large enough one i could i could branch off in the rear if i make changes. i picked up a 5 channel mtx 25x4 rms and 100 rms to the sub. i was thinking of running two amps, bridging the mtx to get 100 rms by two and another amp i have laying around for the rears 50x2 rms. what guage wire should i run so i wont have to do it again?

4awg wire from the battery to a distribution block in the back of the car should be plenty big enough for your needs. You could then run 8awg to each amplifier from the D-block.

no less than 4ga. 0/1 if you feel like you might expand it even more and don't want to buy wire again later.

4 gauge would be fine for that. just make sure you upgrade the wiring in the engine bay as well if it isn't 4 gauge... (ex: the ground cable, etc)

Those amps 4 gauge will work .Then split power to the amps.If you are even thinking of getting in the 1000 watt class for thump go 1/0 gauge as stated.Because Subs
usually lead to more power for componets.

Ive always been told to never use different gauge wire, if you use 4 awg wire from the battery to the dist. block then 4 awg should come out to the amp too.

The amount of current is not the only thing that determines what size wire to use. The distance the current has to travel is also involved. Take a look at this chart...

4awg from the battery to the D-block and then 8awg from the D-block to the amp is OK. The run from the D-block to amp will be much shorter than the run from the battery.
