What kind of headers do you have?
I have a '02 2500HD w/6.0. SLP CAI, Hypertech, Custom cat back w/Magnaflows.
Longtubes are just too much $$.
Looking into some shortys and other bolt ons. I use it for a DD and towing.

Right now I'm running some modded S&P headers but I'm in the process of building custom LT LSX conversion headers for 88-2000 OBS trucks. It's taken me longer than expected since the company bending the tubes for me is over 800 miles away and I work 19 days on with 2 off. They will be out for production very soon made of mild steel 3/8 laser cut flanges and ceramic coated 1 3/4" to 1 7/8" primaries depending on boost apps and distributed through a very reputable corvette exhaust company and also supported by Random Technology.
Here's the conversion headers uncoated and unfinished..................

ive heard people say shortys are a waste of money for the little gains they give you. personally i would leave it how you have it. it looks like you have another toy to play with anyway.

Thats what I was wondering about. Shortys=<10hp?
Will those prototype headers fit the 6.0 with dual cats?
The other toys are why I don't have cash for LTs.'06 M6 BOM: Pred, Kooks sig LT's, Magnaflow, Volant, Comp Cam 1.85, March UD. PB 12.92 @110.71 w/ 2.07 60' on street tires.

we put shorties(summit brand) on our 2000 dodge ram 5.9, its used to tow our bikes and quads, it helped a lil. but with 103,000 on a worn out mopar auto trans you prolly dont feel much of an improvement...

Anybody other than Dynomax make LTs?
I like the Dmax, but at over $1200, Iduno
The Kooks really woke up the goat though.
Anybody know if some other model, ie. F-body/C5, would clear the engine accessories, trans, transfer, str?
I can fab up mids no problem.
I was thinking of finding some used and moding to fit.

I'm not sure if the headers I'm building will fit or not. I'm going to try them out on some of the NBS trucks but I think there's some better looking heders out there for your truck because of the way the OBS headers have to clear the upper control arm.

Well,
If you were closer, I would get you to try some Gibson shorties I took off a Denali. The guy swore up and down they improved fuel mileage. So much so, he paid to swap them onto 3 (total) Denali's. He traded for a new vehicle every year. When they went to the 6.2s, of course he didnt have to do the swap, but he bought new ones and I aquired the old ones. I might check to see if they will fit my 5.3. I know the crossover wont work, but I think they bolt up on the engine side.
