I got a chance to pick up some 5.3l heads locally for about $100. Is this worth it, will they do anything for me? I saw a thread on this a while back but I don't remember there being a firm decision one way or the other about their effectiveness.

they will definitely need larger valves at a minimum. Port and polish would be worth the investment also. You'll get a small compression increase out of the heads but without larger valves it's not worth it. You start adding all that up and even at $100 you wouldn't be far off of buying a set of patriot heads.
