Hey thats my site.
Ya, just replace the sensor with a 10k resistor. That will just turn off the auto-headlights.

FYI, sensor works like this from factory:
Light = less resistance = closed circuit = headlights off
Dark = more resistance = open circuit = headlights on
if you want to make the auto feature an option, you can wire in a switch instead of the resistor. To do this, splice into the wire on each side of the sensor with two wires, but don't cut them completely (or if you do, put them back together). With these two wires, run each to one side of the simple on/off switch (radio shack!).
I made it so ON was factory mode (auto headlights), and OFF was non-factory mode (control with headlight switch only). I wired the switch in the ashtray, so you can't see it if the cover is closed. Did the same thing for the door dinger!
(oh, if you do the switch so that ON is factory mode, you have to take it apart and reverse it: ON normally closes a circuit and off opens it, where for this case if you want ON to be factory mode, you want to open the circuit. This bypasses the switch and makes the juice go through the sensor. Off would then be closed circuit, which lets the juice flow through the switch, therefore bypassing the sensor, and turning your lights off unless you have the headlight switch on)
Be aware if you do the switch, and you are testing -- there is a 30-40 second delay after you hit the switch to when the headlights go on/off (if it's dark).Last edited by ninety6; 08-20-2005 at 05:37 AM.
