ASTRO CARGO VAN vs JETTA!!!
well as some of you guys know...my Camaro has been out for the count...for a little while know...it's already fixed but I can't drive it cause the tags expired... and I need to get it inspected...
anyways... here's the deal... I'm out running some errands during the afternoon yesterday (Saturday)... and a buddy of mine calls he's in the neighbor hood and wants to hang out... i'm in my dad's '95 ASTRO CARGO VAN since I can't use my car... we meet up in a mall...so I can show him the way to my house (he lives 1 hour away)... and he just starts making fun of the ASTRO... so I get pissed and call him out!...he has a '01 JETTA 2.0L Manual putting out a whopping 94whp and 114wtq (yes he dynoed it)
THE RACE #1
UP HILL... he waits till I gun it... and then he goes... and can't seem to keep up...
THE REMATCH
This time we go up to my Usual Race spot... about Half a Mile of straight road (kinda bumpy)... perfect for drag racing... we are at about 20mph...I drop down to D and gun it at the same time... we stay close for about 2seconds then I start pullin, and pullin...and by the time I get to 70mph I had about 2 cars on him...and that was the end of that...
THE SPECS
'95 ASTRO CARGO VAN - 190hp, 250tq... Auto... 3600lbs... 161,000miles (no oil change in 4 years)...KN style Conical Filter, blown shocks and is un-alingned.
'01 Jetta 2.0L - 94whp, 114wtq, Manual, 2900lbs... Intake, Stiffer suspension

yeah... he just told me, he's gonna go to the track on Thursday... that should be interesting...
last time he couldn't break out of the 18's... he's hoping to get down to 17.6... LOL...
we have a BET going... if he can't best the 17.8 mark... I get to run it at the track for a day... LOL

Maybe if he got out of it and ran down the 1/4 he could break outta the 18's. Or maybe swap out his engine for a couple chiwawas?

this is good! I beat an 98 Eclipse GSX with my parents 98 Astro van already! I thought I was the only one trying to race with them.

Hey, I've got an 04 Safari that's doing pretty well at the strip. I'm running solid 17's on streets. Plus I've got the lower molding kit with the steps and the rear window wiper/washer option. Bring on your Astro Van. I'm ready for ya. I'm planning on adding a blower in the near future and getting some 4.11's.

It would be fun, but it's not my van. My brother owns it now, but maybe I could talk him into running it. It's the all wheel drive version so I'd just need to put a stall in it and roast your Safari off the line! This one is a Waldoch (sp?) conversion one with the dutch doors on it.
