If you want a street car...don't concern yourself with peak dyno numbers.
You want more powerband. But the right tuner might be able to get 420 out of that cam with ALL the bolt ons.

i talked to tsp they gave me this info on what to buy for street setup, precision race components stage2.5 5.3L heads with a torquer v.3 cam comes with hardened pushrods, extra cost for ported oil pump, head gasket kit,cam specs are 231/234 643./598 111lsa,AND adjustable double roller chain for total of 2050 sound like a good deal?

Other than the double roller chain, sounds like a great set-up.

Overkill in my opinion.
Plus, they can create install issues.
I went with the Comp adjustable single set for mine.

oh ok, they have non adjustable single roller chain for less,so i really dont need the double even know a shop will installin all this?

I don't think you'll have touble finding a shop that'll install all of what you have listed but to tune the car so that your in the ballpark area in terms of HP may be a little more difficult.

I beg to differ. I daily drive mine and it is great. I got my idle at 925rpm (had it at 850rpms with no problems) but liked the off idle throttle response a bit better at 950rpms especially when Auto-Xing at our slow small events. At 850 the lope is awesome. There is a bit of bucking but other than that it drives perfect. I get about 22mpg in the highway and 12mpg in the city around 17 combined when driving to work. Rush hour is no problem. Drivability is all in the tune (although anything bigger would make it harder to get it livable). Low end torque is not bad. I have to take go to the dyno to put some final touches to the tune after I put my new clutch in and get some final numbers. The cam has a awesome top end 3K and up it just pulls and pulls all the way to redline.
I think a Trex takes a bit more work to get decent any drivability.Last edited by Killer_bluebird; 08-11-2007 at 11:56 PM.

Everyone has their own opinion of streetable. I do agree that a good tune will make the biggest cams easy to drive.
Do you have a dyno sheet available?? Those larger cams like the higher RPM's. Off idle won't be bad, I agree.
But with the slightly smaller cams you can get a larger powerband. Which for me is something a street car needs.
Everyone has their own opinions though. Hell...I run a 248/254 629/622 113.

No the only graph I had was when I was running it with stock manifolds, ORY and Borlamouth. As you know this big overlap cams don't do too well with restrictive exhaust. It still manage to pull 385 rwhp can't remember the torque. Due to some circumstances (relating to been ripped off on my original cam selection that was suppose to be a TSP 231/237 598/595 LSA114 and turned out to be a stock cam
) I had to get another cam in there before I got long tubes on the car. So at that point I though that if I was going to do another cam swap 2 weeks apart from each other I might as well get something a tad bigger
.
Nice! is it straight up or do you have any advance on it? I would have loved to have done a custom MS4 239/242, .649"/.609" 110*+2 but I would have had to flycut. So I went with their standard 111* grind.
