Maybe you can raise the little rubber bumpers like the ones to adjust your hood height.

Start touching different places to see where the rattle is coming from. Is it the license plate? Is it the spoiler? Is it INSIDE the spoiler? Is it a tail light? Is it a tail light wire bouncing against the back of the car? Is it the plastic trim on the bottom (inside) of the hatch? With out knowing where it's rattling, I'd have absolutely no idea where to begin to tell you to make it stop.
Oh yeah, dynamat... expensive and not worth it IMO

What Dr Milhouse almost said! ! !
If you find the spot, also if you remove the trim underneath the hatch where it's rattleing, you can tighten down on the nuts holding the wing in place (if thats it) or adjust those plastic bumpers to 'snug-up' the hatch when it's shut! Dynamat will stop the noise if it's simply the metal part of the hatch vibrating due to it's size (the part of the hatch that bolts onto the glass - about 10 inches wide and 4+foot long - painted body color). . .
hope this might help some. . .

I am having the same problem when I hits small bumps on the road. It sounds like the metal part of the wire and I have adjusted the rubber bumpers. If you find the problem, let me know.

Oddly enough, I noticed a little rattle a few days ago myself. I checked by adjusting my stereo pretty high and stood outside. . . It was the little panel between my tail lights. . .adjusted tighter and all is good in the world now...
Just a possibility. . .

Duff,
Thanks for the tip. I will give it a try as the rattle is driving me nuts.
