$5000 to spend, what to do
I know there's a lot of talk about this, but I would like peoples specifics of what they would do with the money. I've got $5000 to spend on my bone stock 2002 Trans Am WS6. Has just 30,xxx miles. This is going to be my daily driver so keep that in mind. I want to get the most hp out of the 5 grand that I can though. Thanks alot guys!

you cannot go wrong with a heads/cam package. i dont know what else you've got done but if ure running stock motor i wouldnt turbo it, not without any bottom end work done. get a nasty cam and u wont be sorry

Ok what about: lid, headers, exhaust, cams and heads? Wouldn't that probably put me over 400 hp?? How about suggestions on exact type of cams and heads, would like some opinions on headers and exhaust too. I figure whisper will be good for lid. Somebody hook me up with a sick cam and head package tho...not too familiar with those. Also I would like that sort of choppy idle, but nothing that would knock it out of my daily category. THANKS for the quick responses guys!

and I don't think turboing my car would be too practical considering it's my daily driver wouldn't you think? and like the guy above me said, I would probably need some bottom end work right? I'm planning on driving this car for the next 3 years also* Might want to keep that in mind.

no need for bottom end... 5lbs boost on stock internals is just fine. Ask everyone that has done it. My buddy has his done with stock 98 ls1. No botom end work done for the past year and a half... and he beats on his daily. He actually saw an improvement in gas mileage. He has the nelson performance tune on his.
ps- heads and cam usually means more fuel consumption

So will a turbo be considerably faster than heads, cams, headers, exhaust and lid?

Allright so sts states around -1 off 1/4 mile. How much do you think I could shred with heads/cams, headers/ory, exhaust and lid?

I'm just not too keen on turboing my car. It seems like it would be something I'd have to worry about being my daily driver and all.

if you would like theres a contact number on ststurbo.com and they can give you alot of info and they are probally one of the most honest companies out there. Alot of them own boosted birds and they are there daily drivers. I talked to them once before we ordered my friends kit. He was considering Heads/cam and full exhaust. I just asked him if he regrets it and he said "helllll no!" yes he said it with alot of L's. He said the cost in fuel alone if he did heads and cam would have killed his budget. But I suggest talking to them and telling them your debate between turbo and heads and cam
