monitor adapter?

I have a very old 17" monitor. I'd like it to work with a dell pc. Is there an adapter that will convert these:

to these:

What in the hell are those dots?

Is your dell pc using a dvi connector? Otherwise it's standard. If you monitor is way old like cga or ega then it won't work with windows xp or newer anyway.

those dots are the little nodes that are on the end of the monitor cable.

Does your video card have these 2 types of outputs ... white is DVI .. blue is VGA, the one you will most likely be using ..

Yeah, just do a google on the above except switch the male/female connectors in the name.
