Subwoofer Gurus I got a quick question
Ok heres the deal, its an airspace/volume question.
I got a 10 inch JL audio sub that the specs say to have 0.75 cubic ft of airspace and ive got a sealed box for a 10 inch sub that has 1.22 cubic ft of airspace inside. Is this OK or is that Too much airspace for the sub? Is the manufacturers 0.75 cu.ft. for the sub just the minimum you should use.

i had a fuggin huge box for my competiton 12's. Sounded great. I dont think it will be too much air space. you should be good.

Go easy on the power on it. Too little volume will allow for too much excursion on the sub causing it to bottom out (and top out). You should be fine though. It's not a HUGE difference, but it is about 50% larger than the ideal situation.

Ok heres another question.
My previous setup was a JL audio powerwedge with the 3 tens, my amp was just a 75.2 fosgate amp. Now the powerwedge has ONE terminal to plug in speaker wires and i had that amp bridged into that one terminal, does that mean that if that amp was 200 watts bridged into 3 speakers then each speaker was only getting like 65 watts? Im just trying to see if i should use this amp to power both speakers or an amp for each speaker(that might be overkill though)

One amp for both subs is fine. It's all in the wiring. I'm sure it was wired so that each speaker was getting more than 65. Who knows for sure, but that 75.2 was actually putting at least 150x1 at 4 and the subs were probably actually wired for 2 ohms of resistance which would have again doubled your power so it would have been 300x1 at 2 ohms so the subs combined would have received that 300+ watts.
This new JL 10in sub that was in your original post, is that a replacement sub or are you putting that in addition to the 3 that are in that wedge or whatever?

Milhouse: well im actually using two of the three subs from that powerwedge in a box for my dodge ram, ill just use that amp and have each sub get 75 watts, should bump enough.
HiPo: thats a bit too much power, that will eat my subs fo lunch. what kinda subs did you have on that?
