Tune after headers and no cats install?
I was wondering if i have to do a tune after i install headers w/02 sensor sims. and no cat y-pipe.
I am getting ready to do this install soon.
i will also do a plug and plug wire change while i am at it.
also is there any header gaskets (copper, aluminum, etc) that can be recommended.
Thanks

tunes are your best friend(s). Highly recommended that you do if you want to see the full gians out of your mods.

Like said above too see the most gains you will want a tune but you dont need one. It will run a lil rich but not too bad. Your sims will keep your ses light from coming on so you should be good to go. Dont use cheap paper gaskets, personaly i used stock gm gaskets.

yep yep, run a little rich, tune will help out a lot, i did the same and used the stock gm gaskets..which are probably the best gaskets you are going to find for your car. I recommend running bosch corvette o2's instead of sims, because sims seem to malfunction from time to time and the vette 02's are the longer wires that will fit fine.

From what i read on LS1tech the computer is supposed to monitor the AFR and keep the fuel at 14.7, the only time you would run rich or lean is at WOT. But if you have it dyno tuned the can adjust your fuel trim and then you will see maximum gain from headers and exhaust you put on it but tune is not totally necessary. your car isnt stupid, it knows where to keep the fuel trim at when idling and during normal driving what not. Dyno tune recommended but not necessary to keep car running. If you plan on doing anymore mods like heads cam and intake in the near future then i would just wait on the tune, that is what i recently decided to do after studying up on the topic on here and on www.LS1tech.com Hope you enjoy your new headers and exhaust.

you want to get a tune after doing a headers swap. i would only wait if you plan on doing more mods in the very near future.

Yeah when I get headers im gonna most likely get a tune, cause i can get one for 350$ that i know will be good.
You might just want to see what the car runs like after you install your headers.

I havent tuned mine yet LT ceramic pacesetters and it seems to be fine. Im sure I would benifit from a tue, but Im gonna throw a stall on there and would rather tune it after that. When you get it tuned you can tune out the rear o2 sensors so you dont need the sims after that.
