Whats is the best or most trusted name in underdrive pulleys for a LS1?

I put on a SLP about 2 months ago. No probems with installation (comes with new bolt) and paid $208.00 to the door.

Smaller diameter slows down all the parasitic drag on your motor by turning your water pump/alternator/power steering etc. slower by 25% thus freeing up horsepower that now goes to the rear wheels....I have a SLP pulley myself...no problems whatsoever....the engine does spool up quicker....

The new design SLP pulley is wonderful, had it for over a year, NO trouble.

I just ordered my underdrive pulley and alt. pulley! I should get them this Tues. or Wed! I went with Jet Performance.

Tigersport, if you can swap you serp belt, you can swap your pulley. I am sure if you do a search you can find info that can guide you through.

If it slows the water pump, wouldn't the engine temp get hotter?

But all you really need is some free time and a pulley puller.

I have the March Performance and it is a very nice piece. I got it with the alternator overdrive pulley kit. But installed the crank pulley only to see if I was going to have charging problems. With the AC on on full my voltage would drop but not bad. So for now I'm not going to put on the overdrive Alternator pulley.

Asp pulley here. The pulley does not slow the water down that much to not make the car cool. It may actually help it cool because the water is going slower so the water goes in stay slightly longer taking more heat from the engine. Then the water in the radiator also has more time to cool. It's kind of reverse of what you would think, have you ever heard on a car overheat because there is not T-stat? I have actually had it happen on a rather cool day(about 60 degrees) in my 88 SS with no Tstat the water just ran through so quickly it never cooled the engine down.

The only problem you may have with any underdrive pulley is if you have and auto you should also get the overdrive alt pulley so you don't drain your battery. The manuals idle a bit higher so they don't have a problem just the underdrive will do fine.

Thats odd that you overheated with no thermostat. I dont think an open thermostat restricts flow that much. If you think how a stat works.......it opens more and more the hotter the fluid gets. A radiator is nothing but a heat exchanger whose efficiency depends on its dimensions and flow rates. If you slow the water too much you will lose efficiency.

ASP and no issues here. i dont know that it will slow down the water pump. it should spin a bit faster thus moving the WP pulley a bit quicker if anything...its supposed to be less parasitic loss.

~8hp is about avg. you do notice much faster revs though.

I have a M6 already with a few idle diping problems since cam swap, wonder if pulley is such a good idea.
