Im looking into buying a valve spring kit, I got a little lost when it says 7 degree locks. What exactly does that mean?

Each valve spring has two lock that hold it in place top the valve. Depending on the retainer, different locks are needed. In most cases where a different lock is necessary the springs will most likely include new locks. Factory retainers and most basic aftermarket ls springs use 7 degree locks.

The locks are like a two piece wedge and the angle of the wedge or locks is measured in degrees. I tougher the springs and keepers the larger the angle so many high performance springs come with 10 degree locks for added strength at higher RPM's
