Grey- 1997 Pontiac Trans-Am
12 bolt rear drop in differential for 1997 Trans Am
Hey guys,
I am in Ontario Canada and I am thinking about buy 1997 trans am with a few modification (5.3L, ls6 heads, TSP torquer V2 cam, Upgraded T56 trans etc) However, the stock 10 bolt on the car is broken.
Where can I find a 12 bolt with a limited slip differential and a 3.73 or 4.10 gear?
I am strapped for cash so I can't really afford something new.
Thanks

Strange and Moser both make bolt in assemblies, but good luck finding one used. If you need to get your car on the road, your best bet would be to grab a used 10 bolt for cheap and then save up for an aftermarket rear.

I installed a 12 bolt with 3.73's from Moser in our car a couple of years ago. Just couldn't bring myself to throw a "Ford part" into a GM. Strange makes a rear they label an "S60" that is a lightweight version -- only 20-25 lbs. heavier than a 12 bolt.

Welcome,
Always worthwhile to throw feelers out there because you never know. Unlikely you'll find a used 12bolt/9inch or a dana as most people once they buy them they stay in the car for good. Any choice you make is a good one, they are all tough as nails.
Now I say that yet I had a spare 12 bolt I sold to another Fbody enthusiast just this year. If you do find one be quick about it, mine was gone in 3 days and had more calls than I cared to answer.
