2005 Silverado 1500 glove box latch broken...
Can't open the damn thing. I've already taken the 3 screws off the bottom hinge, but there are still two rivets. It got me a little more leeway though.
I've been able to reach my hand down into the glove box from the back under the dash and retrieve what my husband needed, (scratched the hell out of my arm and hand while doing so ) but still can't get the actual latch to open up.
At this point, I'm thinking that the only way to get to the latch is to cut through the front of the glove box cover so I can get to the hex screws attaching the latch to the dash.
Any better ideas?

Was able to get it open by continuing to mess with the broken latch/handle mechanism. It finally popped. What a pita. Now there are a bunch of rivets that need to be removed to replace it. At least it's open now though

Yeah, well, that is the reason why I have to fix so much shit around here because that is always my husbands first choice and generally why I am always having to fix things
