Rear Bump Stops from Sponsor
Hi,
Looking for some rear bump stops. I took my rear wheel off yesterday and found the bump stop was half gone. It is crumbling apart.
Looking to see if a sponsor has these?
I called GM and they told me they were obsolete, but gave me a gm part number 10282449.
Thanks,

I do not believe that any of our sponsors offer replacement bumpstops. I would check with Hawks Third Gen, Energy Suspension, or P-S-T as possible sources. If you are simply looking for a stock replacement piece, then check with the guys at Trans Am Creations.

Hawks third gen deffinetely has them. Got em in red or black. I believe they are 130 for both. Dont quote me on the price. Lifetime warranty too.

Yes I have it. Worth it. You will need to do a minor mod. Need to grind down the lip on the frame to let the bump stop sit right. No big deal. Took me 20 mins. Beats paying $100.Last edited by 35th-ANV-SS; 08-14-2011 at 07:55 PM. Reason: removed link to non-sponsor

What i understand is the third hawks are stock replacement and the stops i ordered a little grinding needs to be done to make them fit. i would rather do a little grinding than pay over 100 dollars for the bump stops and after reading multiple threads on here and ls1tech aftermarket work fine and do the job.

1slowbusa,
I bought and installed the Strano Bump stops on my SS. They were black in color and was $35-40 total with shipping. my passenger side rear was destroyed, drivers still looks good as new.
I have had ZERO issues with them. however, I did have to grind off on the metal bumpstop bracket. I took pics of my install, but have not done a write-up on it. it's easy and straight forward.
As for HTG, they rape everyone on prices, period. Sad thing is, people willingly choose to pay those insane prices. i don't get it.

I recommend using a 4" grinder. The metal is thick enough that a Dremel will take to long. Now if you have a plasma cutter, 5 mins top.
Don't go all crazy when taking it off, just remove a little at a time. Also use some spray paint to cover the bear metal after cutting so you don't have a rust spot.

ooo, i need to clarify.
when i said i had to modify the bumpstop bracket, i ment the actual 'spacer' insert piece. i did not have to do anything to the bracket that is on the car itself.
i didnt have a grinder, i got to do it using a hacksaw and filing down the rest. took me about 1.5 hrs total cause of that.
i will pull the pics off my camera and post up later tonight.

I just cut the bracket off the car itself. Took about 30 mins both sides. I have the SLP spacers but again they need to be grind down in order for the bump stops to fit. I haven't don't it yet.

here are my pics from beginning to end on the passenger side. obviously, same process for the drivers side
you can see where i had to hacksaw off on the SLP Spacer since i don't have a grinder.
factory bumpstop on the left and aftermarket on the right:
