coils?
So I found this two videos on youtube were you can see that the coils and spark plug wires are not on the valve covers but mounted far back on the engine. My question is? "can u do that to a stock ls1" "and how is that mod done". I would like to clean up my engine bay a lil, I mean the ls1 is a beautify engine, but with all the wires it really makes it look shity.
here are the video links.. pay attention to the valve covers.

Thunder Racing offers a "LS1 Coil Relocation Kit".
It goes for about $80 (bracket only) to $210 (wires and bracket)

what about instead of these bracket you get some fuel rail covers? It about or close to the same price and I think it will look better IMO.
There is a lot of mods that you can do to hide alot of the wires on our vehicles. the cruise control module one, the passenger side wheel well one, deleting your EGR/AIR system. those will clear your engine a lot.

I went with the secondary air delete, wire hide mod, relocated the cruise module, polished the rocker covers, applied a factory Ram Air decal to the SLP lid, added a battery cover and custom FRC's from Afterthoughts:

Thanks! Still too much clutter for me though. Us old guys like an engine bay and firewall with two bulkhead connectors, a wiper motor, two vacuum lines and two heater hoses.

You don't have to be old to like the clean, simplicity of a 60's engine bay. I like to work on the older beasts too and a im a couple years away from 30.
Is 43 old? I have a 44 year old pontiac. I'll post a few pics of the engine bay for you when I get a chance.Last edited by Z28_Driver; 05-20-2011 at 12:23 PM.

Here you go. 67 Pontiac engine bay. rebuilt 400, about 1500 miles. Not a lot of spit and polish, but its on the road again. Lots of room under the hood.

^^ That is what an engine bay should look like.

I thought you would like it.
It looks like a mess in the pic to me, but it will get cleaned up a little at a time. I'll post a few new pics once I have cleaned it up a bit. A few cans of paint and some wire ties will make it look much cleaner.
