For those of you who have puked their Torsen...
...what kind of indication did you have? Presently, I don't seem to have any kind of "posi" capability at all. It looks to be operating like an open-end rear. I have picked up a hellacious whine from it as well.
I'm asking if anyone had a similar failure manisfestation to see if I have "failed-safe" or whether I should expect this thing to lock up at some point while I'm running 70 MPH on the highway. It's my daily driver.
Thanks in advance.

It looks like the left carrier bearing is wearing away, which is allowing the carrier to wobble (hence, the backlash) and casuing the howl I'm getting (sounds a lot like tire noise, but the sound remains with the tires off the ground). A good amount of metal was on the magnet (pretty worn ring gear), but it wasn't chunky and it didn't cover the magnet completely.
I still need to drive this thing for a while before I can fix it. I'm just hoping it holds together long enough before it blows and actually wounds the carrier.
