5th gear issue
im hoping that someone here has had this problem, while driving at thruway speed i shifted into 5th gear and experienced a vibration that made a loud drone and resonated through the whole car. i have heard that the gear can get play in it and cause this. car only has 25k on it so it seems wierd but hey stuff happens. any help would be great

Never heard of this. Anyone else? If it was truly a 5th gear issue, it would most likely show up any time you are in 5th. Otherwise it could be a resonance issue with a particular RPM/MPH.

Yeah thats a tough one. I agree with TooFast. Sounds like you may have to have a pro go on a road test with you.

i have found only one forum talking about this issue, can't remember where tho. they seem to think the actual gear is not pressed on the shaft tight enough which causes it to have a small amount of play in it, which causes the vibration. i have the ability to rebuild it myself but was hoping someone on here had heard of, or actually seen it themselves.
