could the pcv valve be causing this?

Lately I've been noticing a studder in my car from when I go from 1st to 4th(skip shift). The car will hesitate for a bit until the rpms pick up a bit. At full throttle it does not do this at all, only at low rpms when I add some gas to it...Just wondering what it could be, any suggestions?

When is the last time the car had a tune up?
(plugs, wires, fuel filter, cleaned MAF)

Could be a vaccum leak but hard to tell
can you hear anything under the hood?

changed fuel filter, plugs and wires about a year ago. Cleaned mass air flow about a week ago....I just went out to go look inside the car, i oil residue accumulated around the pcv hose, couldn't hear any leaks though. Does that mean there is a leak?
I have lt headers with ory pipe, and air lid. Haven't got a tune yet, its on my to do list

Are you sure the residue isn't just from a dirty engine bay? if not it's very possible you have a leak

spray some carb cleaner around your hoses, you may see a change in idle which would mean a leak. There is a y behind the intake that breaks down with time, that could be it as well

edit: how does the car run at idle?

what rpm does it idle at? could be just a hair high but still run smooth if you have a leak
If i were you i'd try the carb cleaner or something similar and see if your idle jumps at all. If you had a leak and it wasn't large enough to cause a rough or noticeable idle issue, i'm not sure it would cause hesitation when driving though

    How low of RPM's?

If your trying to gas it at <500 RPM, I would assume this to be normal.

I'd also suggest going to radio shack and score a resistor to eliminate the skip shift, such an annoying feature.

OP, you might as well change your PCV. They need changed regularly like spark plugs and filters. Be careful removing it from the garment it is in. It is like they are design to break on purpose so you will have to buy the $100 tubing. Don't!! There is a fix that you can do for about $6. I am having to do this because I was replacing mine this weekend and it just fell apart.

    Here is the thread.

In regards to your original question, what rpms are you shifting at to do the skip shift? Below 1500 and you'll stall. about 2k it shift fine. But do yourself a favor by either do the resister mod or get Frost to tune it out.

i notice the hesitation when it skip shifts from 1st to 4th at about 1500 rpm, and I also noticed it hesitates when I add gas when cruising around 60-65mph at 1500rpm in 6th gear.

is this all the time I mean over several tanks of gas at different stations? Do you always get your gas at the same place always and same type? Could be you need to run some injector cleaner. Also not having a tune with the headers can make the car run a little sluggish. I believe it runs rich at low rpms and lean on WOT. PM Frost (Resident tuner.) Full disclosure - I have his tune and it really brings our cars alive. I'm starting to think you have a tuning issue. PCV leak needs to be addressed but it's sounding a lot more like tuning issue.

Okay, ill send my pcm to frost, might as well fix the little things while i wait too, I use shell gas, and used injector cleaner too.
