Best low cost Mods and bolt ons ?
I have a 01 z28 m6 with only an Pypes catback exhaust and slp lid. Id like to make 400whp, without goin to crazy on the mods. he farthest id go is replacing the intake, but id like a stock look, and be able to return to stock easily? I was looking into a custom tune, ls6 intake conversion, either a 90mm tb or ported stock. Any sugestions?

Your not going to get 400 whp without major mods .Either Heads & cam or a "big" cam only ( maybe ). Youll still need LT headers to support any large HP hopes too . You could bolt on a 100hp shot of nitrous . Your probably only making @ 310-320whp now. Dont sweat an intake ,,you already have a LS6 intake ,, its stock on 01 & 02's.
hey 00ls-1 Nice to see you spanking you bro's mustang too .Last edited by FASTEDDIE Z; 07-09-2010 at 06:19 PM.

Pewter metallic- 2000 Camaro SS
You need at least a cam to reach 400 RWHP, you won't do it otherwise. I wouldn't waste my time with rockers either. Either do a cam/intake/headers/tune or don't waste your time/money.

Roller Rockers = Waste of money until your max modded out
400rwhp is going to need at least a cam with supporting mods (IE: Lifters, pushrods, valvesprings, oil pump, etc...) Supporting mods are not going to help make any more power but are a good practice to get into since you would be putting more stress on the valvetrain Your going to need a damn good tune also, dyno (no mail order)
I would do Cam/Intake/Supporting or Set of stock LS6 243 heads with sodium valves (02-04 LS6's) and a 224 or 228 cam with supporting/tune and you should be a lil over 400rwhp. My guess would be 405-412rwhp range
You can get away with a cam without doing most of supporting mods (IE: Oil pump, lifters) Springs are a "MUST" and pushrods are a "MUST" under certain circumstances. I wouldn't do it, unless I did it all, like I did in sig┌∩┐(◕_◕)┌∩┐
Man: The Mods you are fighting,
they are the biggest Men I have ever seen. I
wouldn't want to fight them!
Me: That is why no one will remember your name!

even anywhere from 350-370 would be nice. I would be willing to do a cam. I've never been a fan of headers it takes away from that "stock" look.

What are you all suggesting the OP should do with the intake? I have a 02 and I know the 01-02 have the LS6 intake already so going with aftermarket one isn't much of a gain as I have read on the boards.

id stick w the factory ls6 too much money for the little gain youll get

+100000000 X 100000
You will choke your cam out with stock manifolds, they flow more then most manifolds but no where near long tubes! And to OP, long tubes really don't take away from stock look! If you don't know these engines and not familar with them, you would never know you had long tubes

Not to mention that the stock manifolds and cats weigh a ton compared to a set of LT's.

+1
You gain 20+ RWHP with LTs, and guessing another 10-15 gain extra potential when you add to a cam to LTs. That's possibly more HP than you get from a cam only. LTs = fantastic bang for the buck.
FWIW, noone hardly notices my stainless headers since they are buried under so much other stuff...including visual emissions inspections
