It's back???? poor running 2000 WS6
I posted a question on 7-22-09....see below.... I found that the Air intake temperature sensor wasn't working - replaced it, cleaned the MAF, and re-tuned the car by unplugging the battery and letting it idle to relearn it's idle with and with out the AC running....i drove it easy for 20 miles or so....then harder for a few miles and everything seemed fine for about 4 days or so with limited driving. but sense then the same issues have presented themselves? any ideas????

"Hey everyone, I'm new to the site but have owned my 2000 WS6 for 9 years. I'm having a performance problem that seems to be getting worse. I occasionally spudder under normal driving conditions. It feels like I lost my fuel pressure or have no fuel to the injectors. I don't get an error code, I have 55-60 psi at the fuel rail, I have reset the error codes, changed spark plugs, cleaned the throttle body, changed plug wires, changed 2 o2 sensors and am now in process of checking vacuum system. My car will run okay most of the time after it is up to speed but when I push on the pedal hard the car will drop out or then surge if I keep the pedal down. it was a daily driver but has not had many miles put on it in the last 2 years. I thought it was a transmission problem at first and then the dealer told me it was a fuel pump problem? If I have 55-60 psi when I'm driving how can I be sure the fuel pump is bad???"Last edited by mm3306; 10-12-2009 at 08:38 AM.

Have you cleaned the MAF? Losing power like that sounds like a classic case of a dirty MAF.

Only other thing that comes to mind is faulty MAF (which always doesn't trigger a code) or clogged cats.

engine temp sensor will do this if it intermittently drop out .EX:bad connection which is stressed under accel. its worth checking if the computer gets no reading from the temp sensor it defaults to dumping fuel like its cold.eventually itll wash the rings out.

yep, two wire sensor screwed into the head
To the op, I haven't experienced this problem on a LSx engine, but had a 98 Silverado 5.7 this summer with the same complaint. Everything checked out ok, including exhaust backpressure and fuel pressure was steady at WOT. It ended up being a fuel filter that was plugged up.

Hey just a update and a thanks to you guys....I got a scan tool and found that the drivers side bank of O2 sensors were not acting right....I found a crack on the flange between the cat and the flange that mounts to the exhaust manifold. The crack was getting bigger but I didn't hear a problem but it created one. My poor performance was due to this minor exhaust leak.
