Is this the right direction???
I want to run a cam in my truck
Comp 265LrHR12
specs:
215/223 @.050"
.607/.610 lift
112 lsa / 110 icl
What will this do for me?
99 5.3 chev ec/sb 4x4 33"mudders(Heavy), shorty's, cai, true duals, superchips, eaton posi with 4.56 gears
I have good low end now and don't want to sacrifice any though...

Some crazy lift what does the stock stall feel like with 4.56 gears.

pretty damn good, instant torque kind of like a diesel, will lay rubber for 10ft or so(both tires very very sticky) It says its a lsr series cam which is supposed to be good for low end power???

It looks like a cam that works for a stock stall but that lsa looks like it should be 114. I know the smaller the motor the bigger a cam of any given size acts bigger. If they reccomend it go for it, it might not want to idle low enough for a stock stall.

Might work good for you. Going to need a good valve spring upgrade. It says 1300 - 6500 rpm range, but I'd still look for a small stall convertor !!!

Cam looks good. I'd bump it up to a 113 LSA to make it a little smoother so it'll get along better with the stock converter.
Also make sure you run a good double valve spring that's rated for a true .650 lift.

I will be defiantly be running good springs, that much lift has me worried, the comp guy says nothing to worry about. Will going to a custom grind at 113 really make a difference? I know stock is a 114 lsa .190/.190 .47 lift or something. What kind of power do you think it will make???

With a big truck on 33" tires, I wouldn't really be worried about what kind of power it'll make on the dyno

Do a 113 + 4 (advance) and it'll make plenty of power everywhere and be perfectly driveable.

Doesn't a custom grind cost like double?? I am interested in more low and mid torque over horse power anyway. I want something that sounds mean as hell, but still very drivable(cold weather in canadian winters
).
just curious, like 40hp and 40 torque would make me happy at say 2500-5000.
What do you think, am I crazy??

Is this the right direction
Ok so I wanna get the cams over with asap, and I really was leaning towards comp cams buttt...
What size should I get, or any other brands that make a good cam that isnt crazy pricey?

Get an LQ9 cam. They're a dime a dozen and work well in a 5.3
2000 Z28: Accufab 4150, Vic Jr. 150 shot, Patriot stg 2 heads, big cam, FLT Stg VI 4L60, S60 rear. Waaay more stuff to list. 3100 LBS.
