    bad catalytic converter

Okay feel free to move this if it is in the wrong thread.

My 2004 GTO has straight pipes on it. Thats the way I bought it and lately have heard a rattle/vibration/squeaky noise cause by the pipes. Well this morning I took it into a well trusted muffler shop and they did some welding on the pipes brackets which helped some but they also said the catalytic converters were shot. They said that material from inside the catalytic converters had broken up and got lodged in my pipes. I was just wondering for suggestions on what is the best route to go on this? Any help is appreiciated.

Also I think a previous owner has done something to the computer because no engine light warning is coming on?
