I've got one that is very similar, made of red carbon fiber that I've cut to match my FRC's that I build. Bought it on Ebay for $60 when they were over $350+ new.
I have not yet had time to do any test fitting yet tho. ...
If it works, I may paint it black & do the 10th Ann'y decals.
I don't think I've ever seen where someone has used the one you had linked tho.

I think a full engine cover is called a "hood". Why not show the engine when you open the hood, not take another cover off to show the engine. I see more and more new cars with a cover over the engine, it makes me think the engineers couldn't make it look good so they put the cover on top of it. Then some of these covers are a royal PITA to remove/install to do normal service to the engine.

I wouldn't mind seeing what this monster looks like without the cover on.

No go, IMO. I love the way LSx engines look, no need to cover anything. Just polish, clean and paint some stuff.

I did an oil change on a Saab today, it had the GM Ecotec 2.0 turbo motor. Had to remove the cover to get to the oil filter, maybe that is why I am biased against them. Just make the under hood look good and clean, don't cover it up IMO. One thing I like about '01 and up F-bodies is the gleaming aluminum passenger side cyl. head.

I'd like to see one of those engine hoods on a car. I really like the design of the LSX. FRC's do look really nice as they cover up a humongous amount of exposed wiring, and give an overall cleaner look.
