short block vs long block
i just wanted to ask a simple question how do you indentify if your LS engine is a short block or long block? i just heard ppl saying long block, short block & so on,i thought all LS engines were short blocks because they were referred to as the GM Small block engine

lol that has nothing to do with it being a small block or gm engine for that matter a short block is an engine that hass just the block and rotating assembly.... a long block is that plus the cam valvetrain and heads

short block is just the bottom end from the pistons down....
Long block includes everything the short block does plus the heads, cam, intake everything....

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
Long block does not include intake...
Here's what you can expect:
Short block: Block with rotating assembly (pistons and crank). May or may not include cam. May or may not include balancer and flex plate or flywheel.
Long block: Short block plus heads and cam plus valvetrain. May or may not include intake and various pieces on the fuel system (carb and or injectors). May or may not include balancer and flexplate or flywheel.
Complete assembly: All of the above plus intake and carb and/or injectors. Even then it still may not include balancer and flex plate or flywheel. Should but may or may not include the throttle body if fuel injection.
None of the above will include the accesory's and drives.67 Camaro: K-K + 797-z (look it up), 454/Th400/4.10 12-bolt = 6mpg, PS/PDB/PW tilt, tach, gauges...
2005 Corvette LS2/M6 Magnetic Red Metallic (What else would it be?) w/ Cashmere interior
2002 Z28: NBM/Tan, MTI smooth lid, smooth bellows, !AIR, !cats, 1-3/4" QTP SS LT's, 2-1/2" TD's with X-pipe, MagnaFlows dumped at axle, custom welded SFC's, MidWest Chassis body mount adjustable T/A, 3400 stall, 3.23 gears (was 2.73). Tuned: 343rwhp/357rwt (before TD's). Best: 12.559 @ 108+, 1.73 60' @ 3500' DA w/MT ET Street DR's.
