Question Re Tool Needed For Slp Pulley Install
I recently bought an SLP Pulley for my car. For installation it says that you need a GM Tool #J36660-A "torque angle". Do I really need this tool or can I just torque it down?

I just paid a machine shop to put it on for me. I didn't have the stuff to take it off with. cost me about 20-30 dollars. Save yourself the headache.
Also a side note. I had problems with draining the battery by leaving my doors open for more than an hour. Usually if i was tuning, or detailin it.
You will need to disconnect the batteyr when ever you are doing anything that requires you to keep the doors open.

Generally with a pulley install, you need a 6" 3 arm puller to pull the stock pulley off. It's a PITA but it can be done! You need a 1/2" drive breaker bar, 1 1/16" deep socket, and a torque wrench that can torque up to 250 ft lb's. The torque wrench is a must and if I were you, invest in an arp balancer bolt, it's longer than stock and it's help you a lot with getting it back on. If you want to do this all yourself and you need a write up, PM me and I'll send you one

I See What You Mean About The Longer Bolt, That Would Have Helped. I Just Used A Rubber Mallet And Tapped It All The Way Around. I Looked For That Torque Angle Tool But Couldn't Find It So I Just Torqued It Down. I Didn't Have Any Leaks Or Wobbles So Guess I Did Alright. Thanks For Your Help!

Redphoenix,
i'd like to take you up on your offer for the write up on the slp underdrive pulley install. I've got a 2001 z28, a4 and i'm questioning how to hold the flywheel to be able to get the torque that is required in the instructions i've seen so far.
I have the puller for the stock pulley and a torque wrench capable of the 240 foot pounds called for. If you could i would like to have your write up. I've looked on-line and in my haynes manual but the torque and the additional 140 degrees called for makes me think this may be a bit of the pita you mentioned.
My e-mail is timsullivan791@hotmail.com
thanks in advance for your help.
