Best Bolt in Rear End for F-Body
I am currently at 400 RWHP on my Trans Am, WS6, A4. I would like to upgade my rear end because I plan to spray 125 wet shot soon. What rear end will be best to buy that will bolt right in and I can use my UMI Torque Arm, stock Driveshaft and stock brakes? Some say Moser 9", Moser 12 bolt and Strange. I want to hear from guys who have bolted in these rear ends and how they perform. I would also like to know how hard it was to install.

9" here and absolutely love it. Easier to do maintenance, more gear choices, stronger, cheaper, better torque arm mount, and I have always run them in most of my chevys over the years. Never had any issues even with some pretty nasty big block cars.
if you are dead set in a 12 bolt get a Strange. It is a much better design but you'll have to wait a while to get one from them.
Me I have a hybrid. Moser 9" houseing and 35 spline axles with a Strange Pro Nodular third member, Motive 4.30 gears and a Detroit Locker. Absolutely bullit proof and will handle well over 1,000 HP.
Why run a stock driveshaft? They are weak and with all the $ you will be investing whats a little more for cheap insurance. Get a Strange driveshaft, $295 shipped. 3" chromolly with 1350 yokes and u-joints. Again will handle 1,000 HP and no worries.Last edited by Jays00ss; 09-24-2008 at 07:10 AM.

I agree. For a six speed I'd say get a fabbed 9' but I've known alot of guys with 9 second auto/nitrous TH400 cars runnin 12 bolts with no problems. The Strange 12 bolt is a direct fit bolt on. Moser 12 bolt torque arm mount sucks. Only downside to the Strange 12 bolt over the Moser is the 2-3 month delivery wait. I don't know tho, those fabbed 9's are sexy tho.
